Adam Schiff Just Blew The Devin Nunes Scandal Wide Open

As the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) is privy to a lot of information that we are not. However, after discovering his colleague’s secret action, he has decided to share his discovery with us, the people of the United States.

Late Wednesday, Schiff posted a statement on Twitter claiming that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) gave President Trump a “secretly altered” version of the Republican created memo which alleged that the United States government has abused its surveillance abilities. The major problem is that Nunes sent these changes to the White House, which were not approved by the full Committee.

Since Trump was supposed to announce whether or not he would release this classified memo on Friday, his announcement might be delayed in the wake of this realization. After the discovery by Democrats that the memo had been altered, Committee Democrats compared the document against the previously agreed upon memo that has been available to all members of the House since January 18.

“After reviewing both versions, it is clear that the Majority made material changes to the version it sent to the White House, which Committee Members were never apprised of, never had the opportunity to review and never approved.”

In retaliation, Committee Democrats wrote their own memo to counteract the mistruths in the unapproved original; however, other House Democrats voted down their attempt to make it a public document. In case you’ve missed what all the fuss is about the memo, the document details the United States government’s abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

The contents of the memo is a huge scandal all by itself, but now with Schiff’s discovery, this is becoming even bigger. Although the Republicans are alleging that the difference between the two documents amount to the equivalent of minor grammatical changes, sometimes a new comma placement is enough to completely change the meaning. Hopefully, soon we’ll get to read this document for ourselves.
