Barron Trump’s School Condemns Donald’s Gun Policy: This Is Dangerous And Wrong

The NRA – the National Rifle Association – is possibly one of the very worst features of American politics today. That is quite an achievement to have, but it is very well deserved thanks to the fact that this organization funnels dark money into all the horrid corners of our government and then quite literally tries to get as many guns as possible into the hands of random people. Sometimes, it can be hard to see the negative effects of this kind of closed door backroom politics and exchanges because it is all so well concealed, but in this case, it is not. These guys literally circulate commercials featuring kids and guns, because they genuinely think that this is the way to make the United States a better and safer place. (Or, they think it is a great way to sell guns and get politicians to do what they want. But we at Blue Side Nation would never be that cynical.)

President Donald Trump, in keeping with his truly appalling character as a business man, politician, and human being, of course, loves peddling this kind of nonsensical capitalistic propaganda for all he is worth. Despite the shocking and horrible terrorist attacks and school shootings that we are continually witnessing in our nation, the President of the United States and leader of the free world still seems to sincerely believe that more guns is always better. This is especially ridiculous when in the context of a school, as Trump has repeatedly advocated literally giving guns to teachers and school staff. It really should not be necessary to explain why this is a monumentally terrible idea.

Of course, on the political left, that has been widespread condemnation of these kinds of comments and policies. However, one particular source of ire was not what Trump was expecting to say the least – he got taken down from somewhere he never saw coming. St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland is one of over a hundred schools that signed an open letter condemning the abysmal policy idea, but the reason this particular school is different is that Barron Trump – the son of the President – goes there.

That’s right. Trump just had his policy condemned by his own son’s schools. And they did not pull any punches either:

“We urge our president, our Congress, and our state leaders to enact specific, rigorous measures to reduce gun violence in our society, particularly in our schools.”

“We need a robust system of registration and background checks, with a particular eye toward weapons capable of rapidly firing a vast number of deadly shots. We need stronger mental health services and more effective communication among agencies responsible for the well-being of children, adults and families. What we do not need is to arm our teachers with guns, which is dangerous and antithetical to our profession as educators.”

If only more people in America thought this way. This is what we need more of right now.
