Bill Barr’s Summary Of The Collusion Report Did Not Include A Single Quote From Robert Mueller

The investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into President Donald Trump, his Organization, his White House, his administration and his entire close circle seemed like it was going on for many lifetimes. It certainly feels like much longer than two years ago that the Justice Department (specifically, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein) found itself forced to commission the former Director of the FBI to set up a probe to investigate Trump.

After what seems like an age, the probe has finally reached its conclusion. Excruciatingly, the right wing establishment is so powerful in our country that the media blasted headlines out for days about how there was “no evidence” of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign which, given all that we have learned over the least two years – and the sheer number of charges brought against senior Trump allies – seems totally ridiculous. And this latest point calls it all into doubt.

Unsurprisingly, left leaning pundits were not going to take Attorney General William Barr’s statement at face value when he boldly claims that there was no evidence in the report of any wrongdoing on Trump’s part. As is his duty, he released a summary of the entire Mueller report – which is very long and not public – so that everyone would know the key points.

There are a couple of issues here. First, he released his summary extremely quickly. Mueller’s report is a very long and very technical legal document. It should surely take some time to read it properly and in detail, but Barr was very, very quick off the mark to write and release his summary of it, which conveniently says exactly what Trump and the right wing establishment were hoping it would say. However, there is something even more damning than that.

As it turns out, in the entire summary, Barr failed to quote a single sentence that was written by Mueller. That’s right – Robert Mueller, who has spent two years investigating the campaign in painstaking detail and writing this extremely long and extremely important report about all of it – did not get a single sentence in Barr’s summary of it. How could Barr possibly believe he was accurately explaining what the content of what Mueller has uncovered without even providing the public with a single sentence of what he wrote?

Ari Melber of MSNBC was absolutely furious when he found out about this, which you can see from the clip below. The Mueller report needs to be made public right now, for the sake of our democracy.
