Defeated GOP Congressman Blames Everyone Else Midterms Losses, Shut Up Immediately By The Facts

The midterm elections were a time of mixed fortunes for all parties involved, not least the Republicans who made gains in the Senate races and gubernatorial elections across the country but lost control of the House of Representatives. Depending on your perspective, though, the election results might have seemed like nothing less than a disaster – say, for example, if you were one of those unfortunate GOP members of Congress who was unseated by a Democrat in the Blue Wave.

That is the situation one Jason Lewis, an outgoing representative from Minnesota, has found himself in. The President and his administration are essentially continuing life as usual now, but this guy finds himself out of a job. So, what to do? Maturely accept defeat, move on and pursue opportunities elsewhere?

No, of course not – this is a Republican Congressman we’re talking about!

Instead of moving on like a mature adult, Lewis decided that it would be a good idea to go on a public rant assigning blame for his loss to other people. More than that, he reckons that the person primarily responsible is a fellow Congressman from his own party. Worse still, that person – who, according to Lewis, is to blame for GOP losses in the House – had already died when the midterms took place. Clearly, this guy has all the qualities you could possibly want in a politician – the people of Minnesota have obviously made a terrible mistake!

Jason Lewis reckons that the late Arizona GOP Sen. John McCain, who died on August 25 of this year – that’s over ten weeks before the elections happened – is to blame for him failing to win another term in his Minnesota seat. Yes, really.

Lewis wrote an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal in which he lambasted the late Republican for costing his party control of the House. Essentially, his argument is that McCain’s decision to vote against the GOP attempt to repeal the Obamacare bill back in July 2017 was what ultimately precipitated the Blue Wave that resulted in the Republicans losing the House in the midterms.

“MCain’s last-minute decision prompted a ‘green wave’ of liberal special-interest money, which was used to propagate false claims that the House plan ‘gutted coverage for people with pre-existing conditions,'” Lewis wrote.

However, Meghan McCain, the famed Vietnam War veteran’s daughter, was not having any of it. In a tweet that shut down Lewis for good, she slammed his take on the election, his blatant self-centeredness and his outrageous criticism of a much-loved late veteran, she said, simply:

“This is abhorrent.”
