Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar Quietly Supported More Than Half Of Trump’s Judicial Nominees

Things are hotting up in the build up to the 2020 presidential election, especially on the Democratic side of things. It seems like there will be an extremely long list of hopeful candidates for the Democratic nomination for the high office of President of the United States and leader of the free world come next year, with each one of them promising that they are the candidate who will be able to unseat President Donald Trump and restore some order to American politics at long last. However, one crucial aspect of each candidate’s self promotion which is slowly coming to light is their past voting record.

How lawmakers have voted in the years they have served, before they announced their intention to run for President, is key to whether they are fit to take over from Trump in the Oval Office. If a candidate says all the right things in front of the camera, but then goes on to support right wing legislation behind closed doors, then the Blue Wave cannot and will not support them. That is why so many people were shocked to learn that one candidate for the Democratic nomination. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, has actually been continually supporting the President’s efforts to stuff America’s courts with as many ultra conservative judges as possible:

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) has supported more of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees than the other Democratic senators running for president as well as the majority of her Democratic Senate colleagues. Although she was one of the most outspoken critics of Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch during their nomination processes, Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has voted “yes” on more than 56% of Trump’s judicial nominees who were eventually confirmed — a higher rate than 32 of the other 46 senators who are members of or caucus with the Democratic Party.

Ten Democratic senators and one Independent who caucuses with Democrats voted to confirm more of Trump’s judicial nominees than Klobuchar. They are Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Jon Tester (D-MT), Mark Warner (D-VA), Doug Jones (D-AL), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Angus King (I-ME), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Tom Carper (D-DE), and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). In addition, Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Jack Reed (D-RI) matched Klobuchar by voting “yes” on 55 of Trump’s 97 judicial nominees. Klobuchar’s campaign declined to comment for this story.

This is very worrying. Whoever gets the nomination needs to be willing to stand up to Trump unreservedly.
