Don Lemon Went Off Script On CNN And Responded To Trump’s Native American Slur

Donald Trump has never been gun shy about saying what’s on his mind no matter who he hurts. In a recent White House event honoring Native Americans who served in World War II, Trump unleashed this missive:

“You were here long before any of us were here,” he told the Code Talkers. “Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago They call her Pocahontas.”

The representative Trump references is Elizabeth Warren. Warren responded with this blistering comment.

“It is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur but Donald Trump does this over and over thinking somehow he’s going to shut me up with it. It hasn’t worked in the past. It is not going to work in the future.”

Warren is right. Anyone who absorbs Trump’s words sees him for who he is: an ignorant bully. His cocksure, devil may care, say what I want attitude might work in the boardroom, but it doesn’t work when you’re the leader of a country.

CNN’s Don Lemon breaks down Trump’s comment even further.

“Trump slammed a political opponent using a racial slur. One that is insulting to Native Americans. That remarked met with stunned silence in the room because everyone in the room knew it was a racial slur directed at Elizabeth Warren.”

The National Congress of American Indians condemned Trump’s comment in a statement.

“The name of Pocahontas should not be used as a slur, and it is inappropriate for anyone to use her name in a disparaging manner.”

When asked about the comment, press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters, “I think what most people find offensive is that Elizabeth Warren lies about her heritage to advance her career.”

Well, given the source the response isn’t surprising. Lemon then replayed a video of Trump saying he’s the least racist person that you, pointing to Lemon, have ever met.

If that’s the case, then why the racial slur against Warren? Trump is far from tone death. He talks out of his ass and normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but when the leader of our country uses racial slurs to try to discredit those who are vocal against him, it signifies a much bigger problem, and that is we have a racist as a president.
