Donald Trump Jr.’s Fate My Have Been Sealed…By His Own Father’s Latest Tweet

When you think about it, adopting the stance of President Donald Trump when it comes to the Fake News Media might actually make life much more pleasant. If you could somehow get into his closed-off mindset of everything you don’t like being totally fake so you can just ignore it, you would never have to face up to anything, even in the face of evidence clearly demonstrating that it’s true.

Track record of misogyny? Fake news. Frequent racist and xenophobic statements? Fake news. Rampant Islamophobia and anti-Semitism? Fake news. Inspriring right wing terrorism? Fake news. Colluded with Russian state actors in order to steal the 2016 Presidential election and then obstructed justice to stop the truth coming to light afterwards? Most definitely fake news.

With that attitude, anything is possible because all your faults just disappear. Except, of course, that they don’t, because as much as you might be enjoying your time in some fantasy land where all the bad things that happen are always someone else’s fault, eventually reality is going to hit home. And believe me, when it arrives, it will hit hard.

It seems to me that the impending arrival of some hard reality surrounding the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into the President and his team is now much closer than many think. Mueller has been closing in on his subjects for some time now, and I’ll bet he is counting down the days until he can let loose the (metaphorical) missile storm.

At this rate, though, with the President shooting his mouth off on Twitter in a potentially highly dangerous way on a daily basis, he might not have to, because Trump might well just dig his own grave.

Reacting to a widely cited report that he once admitted in private that his son, Donald Trump Jr., “inadvertently may have wandered into legal jeopardy” through his risky campaigning tactics and secret meetings with Russians during the 2016 campaign as – you guessed it – fake news.

Here’s the tweet in full:

“Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics – and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!”

This is not how investigations are done. This is not how testimonies are provided. Even putting aside the highly questionable content of this tweet, the fact that Trump is still commenting so openly and so stridently on the investigation on Twitter of all places is baffling.

Mueller will not be happy about this.
