Donald Trump Just Said The Most Idiotic Thing Of His Entire Presidency

Let’s do a check up, shall we? In the last year since our dear president Donald Trump was caught on microphone bragging about committing sexual assault, the conversation on sexual assault has changed. Major players, primarily men, in entertainment and the political sphere have been fallen from grace due to the allegations against them. Harvey Weinstein was fired from his own company and kicked out of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after a number of high profile women accused him of various instances of sexual assault and sexual harassment, started what became a rolling tide of accusations. Kevin Spacey was kicked off of Netflix’s House of Cards. Jeffery Tambor stepped away from Amazon’s Transparent. Louis C.K.’s new movie release was cancelled. Charlie Rose was suspended from CBS’s “This Morning.” A picture surfaced of Democratic Senator Al Franken groping a sleeping woman and has publicly apologized and welcomed a Senate investigation into the accusation. Roy Moore, a Republican Senate nominee for Alabama has been accused of harassing teenaged girls while in his 30’s. Even George H.W. Bush has been accused of groping womens’ butts. All of these men and many, many more who have been accused in the last few months have felt some kind of repercussion personally and professionally over their actions.

Which brings us back to our president. Who, by the way, in case you forgot, was still elected president after the Access Hollywood tape was released. You’d think that after all this fallout, something might change. Nope. This is the Access Hollywood video.

“When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,” Trump said on the tape. “Grab them by the p****. You can do anything.”

Now, this was his original apology.

Of course, don’t forget, it’s all just “locker room talk” to him.

After The New York Times reported that, as of late, Trump has been questioning the authenticity of the tape behind closed doors, White House Press Secretary reaffirmed Trump’s commitment to his initial apology.

“The President hasn’t changed his position,” said Sanders. “I think if anything, what the President questions is the media’s reporting on that accurately.”

Trump has his fair share of accusations from women, too. I personally think that if Trump was first accused of sexual assault or sexual harassment now, with the culture that has been created over the past few months, the allegations might have gartered enough traction to take him down. However, I think we are really only reaching this safer, public space where these powerful men are being taken down now because of the lack of serious reaction to Trump’s tape and allegations from last year. You know what though, this is not the time to start messing with women on sexual misconduct allegations, Mr. President. I don’t care how important you think you are in your own mind, karma has a nasty habit coming back to you based on what you put out into the world. It will come back.
