Fox News Believes Trump Is The Most Honest President In History

Politicians break promises all the time. We know this. So it doesn’t shock us anymore. Which is why we were even more shocked when this opinion article by Marc Theissen came up on Fox News calling Trump the most honest president in history. What’s even stranger than that is that on line two, he calls Trump a liar.

Let’s not forget, this is the guy who insisted that the crowd at his inauguration ceremony was bigger than Obama’s in 2008, despite abundant photographic evidence clearly proving the opposite. This is the guy who claimed that he “enacted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in American history”, when in fact, not one, not two, but seven past tax reform bills were bigger than his.

He has also repeatedly said that “our economy is the strongest it’s ever been in the history of our country” which is demonstrably a million miles from being true. This is a President who has worked his way through about a thousand senior advisers in less than two years in office and whose Twitter account is more chaotic than ABC head offices when Roseanne Barr opens Twitter.

We might reasonably expect, then, that Trump would go back on his promises even more than his comparatively sound-minded predecessors. He couldn’t possibly keep his word amidst all that, surely? And would he even want to? Does he even care?

As it turns out, yes. Both Obama and Bush also promised to move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, but only Trump followed through. He promised to nominate conservative Supreme Court justices “in the mold of Justice Scalia”, which he has unequivocally done in the form of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. Oh, and he has stuffed no less than 26 young Republican judges into the federal appellate courts, too. Just like he said he would.

There are some promises he has kept that we can all pretty much agree are a good thing. Like actually reacting when the Syrian government slaughters its own people with chemical weapons, for instance. Or beating back ISIS into a state of ill repair.

When it comes to some of his other promises stateside though, things quickly get a lot more questionable. His decision to whip the nation out of the international climate agreement, for instance, as well as tearing up Obama’s Clean Power Plan. Or his opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to “exploration” (destruction). These are all massively putting the nation back.

Why is it that of all the Presidents, Trump is the one who stays true to his word most often? Maybe it’s because he’s so egotistic that he won’t listen to any advisors and plows on with backwards policies, no matter how detrimental. A bigger question that looms is, maybe even more importantly, given the colossal pressure he’s under from the mid-terms and the Mueller inquiry, how much longer can he keep it up?
