Ivanka Trump Says Her Email Story Is Totally Different To Hillary Clinton’s, Immediately Proven Wrong

The memories are as fresh as ever in my mind of harrowing footage of those Trump campaign rallies in the run-up to the 2016 Presidental election during which then candidate Donald Trump dispensed with all political convention and integrity to use unconfirmed allegations as the basis to encourage his supporters to chant “lock her up” in relation to his comparatively dignified Presidential opponent, the former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

It was therefore with a healthy dose of bitter irony that media outlets the world over reported last week that First Daughter Ivanka Trump, top aide and senior adviser to the President, had misused a personal email server for private government communications in exactly the same way as Clinton allegedly had, despite seeing her father on TV lambasting her for it for weeks on end.

Ivanka has now come 0ut of hiding and is, finally, responding to the reports. Her verdict: what I did is totally different to what Hillary Clinton did, so everyone should stop talking about it. This is a terrible thing to say for two painfully obvious reasons. Firstly, it is literally exactly the same thing. And second, so what? Even if Hillary Clinton didn’t do exactly the same thing as you, that clearly does not justify your actions, by any stretch of the imagination.

The First Daughter was speaking to ABC‘s Deborah Roberts when she made the absurd claims. Here’s what she said:

“There really is no equivalency. All of my emails that relate to any form of government work, which was mainly scheduling and logistics and managing the fact that I have a home life and a work life, are all part of the public record. They’re all stored on the White House system. So everything’s been preserved, everything’s been archived, there just is no equivalency between the two things.”

Roberts then, quite rightly, responded by pointing out what any reasonable person can see: that, in fact, what Ivanka has demonstrably done is indeed the same as what Clinton is accused of doing. Her response:

“The fact is that we all have private emails and personal emails to coordinate with our family, we all receive content to those emails, and there’s no prohibition from using private email as long as it’s archived and as long as there’s nothing in it that’s classified.”

Once again, she catastrophically misses the point here. Just because none of the content in those emails was technically classified, that doesn’t mean it’s sensible to use totally insecure servers for government business.

It seems that the inability to accept facts staring you in the face is hereditary.
