Keith Olbermann Just Went Off On The NRA After Las Vegas: “You’re A Terrorist Organization”

Keith Olbermann has never been afraid to shout out his opinions from the rooftop — or from behind his desk while disseminating them to millions of viewers for that matter. So following the tragic mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, which left almost five dozen killed and hundreds more injured, Olbermann let it be known to those who watch his web videos that he places the blame squarely on one organization: the National Rifle Association.

On his “The Resistance” video series on GQ, Olbermann began by stating that violent weapons needed to be prevented from getting into the hands of terrorists like Stephen Paddock, the shooter in Sunday evening’s massacre. “We need leadership in this country that will prevent, whatever their motive, the terrorists in this country from buying guns in this country and killing crowds of people in this country,” Olbermann explained.

He also dug into how our gun laws need to be changed to reflect modern purposes. The Second Amendment “was designed to keep the federal government from taking away the right of each state to maintain its own militia,” Olbermann said. That amendment now is “transformed into an excuse for why madmen [armed with guns and assault rifles] cannot be stopped,” he added.

But Olbermann’s criticism of the NRA is the most memorable part of his monologue. The group that “enables such massacres, the National Rifle Association” should be “branded for what it is: a terrrorist organization,” he explained. That statement may come off a bit extreme to some people. But Olbermann is, if nothing else, an explanatory figure who uses proofs to make his point. Olbermann cites Chief Justice Warren Burger, who in an interview explained that the NRA “has been the subject of one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word ‘fraud,’ on the American public.” Burger goes on to say:

The very language of the Second Amendment refutes any argument that it was intended to guarantee every citizen an unfettered right to any kind of weapon he or she desires.

Olbermann went onto explain that “the Second Amendment is gun control from an era where the gun was a musket, and not an automatic killing machine that could be bought and stashed on the 32nd floor of a hotel in order to shoot 500 people at a time.” “The authors of the Second Amendment…could not conceive of such arms,” he said. “It is time to end the lies” about the amendment. “It is [also] time to end the National Rifle Association,” he added.

Watch the entire video below:

It is clear that there are forces in our country that would like to profit at the expense of terrorism and death, exploiting the fears of millions in order to gain millions of dollars, a cycle that has been perpetuating itself for countless decades. The gun industry, namely the National Rifle Association, are among those who do just that.

Keith Olbermann labeled the NRA a “terrorist organization.” There are individuals in this country who feel that goes too far — but perhaps it is those individuals’ sentiments that don’t go far enough.
