Lawrence O’Donnell Just Proved How The Truth Of The Mueller Report Is Being Hidden By The Trump Administration

It seems like another age when the Department of Justice commissioned former Director of the FBI Robert Mueller to be a Special Counsel and lead a probe to investigate the possibility that the 2016 campaign to elect Republican nominee Donald Trump to the presidency may have colluded with Russian state actors and then committed obstruction of justice. Now, of course, the President has claimed victory over what he has called the Witch Hunt that is Full of Dems by pointing to a summary of the completed report written by Attorney General Bill Barr as evidence of the fact that there was, apparently, no collusion.

There are, of course, a million problems with this. First, there’s the fact that there have been endless dramatic news stories over the past two and a bit years exposing all the very dodgy things the Trump campaign got up to back in 2016, such as the secret meetings held between Donald Trump Jr. and representatives of the Kremlin. Also, various senior pro-Trump figures such as Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen have been convicted and indicted relating to a whole host of extremely serious offenses. It is therefore very difficult indeed to believe that Trump and his whole family are somehow totally innocent here.

However, there is one aspect of all of this that has been almost completely overlooked by the mainstream right wing media, and that was brutally exposed on live TV by Lawrence O’Donnell recently. He opened his show on MSNBC, The Last Word, with a rant outlining exactly how this entire episode has been completely misrepresented by the media:

Most of the news media seemed to treat the attorney general’s four-page letter about the Mueller report to actually be the Mueller report, which, of course, no one in the news media has actually seen. So what if on thefirst page of the attorney general’s four-page letter instead of writing, this report is entitled report in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election – what if instead of that the attorney general wrote, this 900-page report is entitled report on the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Nine hundred pages would have staggered the news media, 700 pages wouldhave staggered the news media, 500 pages would have staggered the news media – 500 pages would have humbled the news media into instantly realizing that a four-page letter that they were holding was not a 500-page Mueller report.

This is a very good point that not many people have realized. The whole Mueller report needs to be made public right now.
