Maxine Waters And Adam Schiff Are Firing Off Subpoenas Left And Right To The Trump Administration

President Donald Trump is desperate for the public not to see his tax returns. We here at Blue Side Nation have been closely covering this story as it develops because it could turn out to be extremely important for the future (or lack of future) of the Trump presidency, possibly even more so than the entire scandal over potential Russian collusion and the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. It is a well established custom for senior elected officials to release their tax returns publicly and voluntarily, so that voters can see that everything is above board, as it should be. Trump has now been the President of the United States and leader of the free world for well over two years, so he cannot escape the fact that everyone is expecting him to do the same and publish his tax returns in full in the very near future.

However, he appears extremely reluctant to do that. In fact, he has taken unprecedented and quite extraordinary steps to escape the responsibility of doing that, and even to deliberately block other people, such as Congressional Democrats, from finding information that could be in the public interest of their own accord. Thankfully, though, that was not enough to put them off, and many, such as Rep. Maxine Waters, are now taking matters into their own hands:

Congressional investigators on Monday intensified their pursuit of President Trump’s personal and business financial records by issuing a subpoena to his longtime lender, Deutsche Bank. The two committees that issued the subpoena, the House’s Intelligence and Financial Services committees, also demanded documents from numerous other financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Citigroup, related to possible money-laundering by people in Russia and Eastern Europe, according to three people with knowledge of the investigation.

“The potential use of the U.S. financial system for illicit purposes is a very serious concern,” Representative Maxine Waters, the chairwoman of the Financial Services Committee, said in a statement. She added that the panel was “exploring these matters, including as they may involve the president and his associates, as thoroughly as possible pursuant to its oversight authority, and will follow the facts wherever they may lead us.”

Subpoenas have also been sent out by Rep. Adam Schiff, as well as Rep. Elijah Cummings, and others. In other words, these representatives are united on the importance of this issue, and President Trump will not be able to hide for much longer.
