Mitch McConnell And His Whole Family Caught Dodging Taxes, Investigation Coming Soon

One of the many, many tangible disadvantages of having a President of the United States who thinks it is a good idea to rile up the rest of the world via Twitter and constantly propose policies and nominations that are clearly totally unsuited to the political situation is that his actions take up all the news headlines we could possibly cope with all on their own, which means that other very important stories end up getting overlooked.

Take, for instance, the recent revelations surrounding US Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and her husband Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Firstly, the fact that these two senior and instrumental figures in the Republican party and the Trump administration are married means that they are almost certainly in cahoots in whatever they do. Secondly, and crucially, it means they can get away with stuff and hide behind President Trump. We cannot go on allowing this to happen.

The pair recently attended a ceremony at Harvard Business School to commemorate the opening of a new building for Harvard’s Executive Education program, which is to be called the Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Center. The building, which is named after Secretary Elaine Chao’s mother, was funded by a colossal $40 million donation from the Chao family’s charitable foundation (also named after Chao’s mother).

Nothing wrong with that, though, right? A rich politician makes a generous donation to a high profile educational establishment. It seems fairly normal. Except that when you start to dig into the details a little, it quickly becomes very obvious that there is much more than meets the eye here.

The Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Foundation has had millions of dollars funneled into it from various offshore tax havens, which is not only extremely questionable on a legal basis, but highly immoral and unethical, and clearly not behavior fitting for such highly positioned elected representatives of the American people.

The Marshall Islands, which is “known as one of the world’s most secretive offshore havens for firms seeking to avoid taxes and a preferred foreign locale for the Foremost Group, the Chao family’s New York-based shipping business”, is home to not one but two of the enigmatic financial bodies that has funneled money into the Foundation.

Essentially, if the Chao family was managing their money in the normal and proper way, much of this cash would have been in the national pot and put towards things like social and public services and security. But Chao, who strongly supported Trump’s big tax cuts bill, made absolutely sure that didn’t happen.
