Mueller Is Putting The Pressure On Bannon And That’s Exactly What Trump Doesn’t Want

Until Mueller subpoenas Trump, this is as close to a Trump confession as we’re going to get right now. That is, Special Investigator Robert Mueller has subpoenaed former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon in regard to the Russia investigation. This is huge.

Now, it has been reported that Bannon has negotiated out of going up against a federal grand jury. Instead, his lawyers have arranged that he will be answering questions “voluntarily” in front of a panel of Mueller’s special investigators. This comes after he refused to answer questions about his tenure in the Trump administration in a closed-door session with the House Intelligence Committee. Bannon is the first Trump associate to be subpoenaed by a grand jury.

In Michael Wolff’s book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, Wolff cited an interview Bannon had with The Guardian where he spoke about Jared Kushner and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s meeting with Russian lawyers.

“The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor — with no lawyers. They didn’t have any lawyers,” said Bannon. “Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s***, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

As we know, Bannon was the White House Darling until he fell from grace. Now, no one in the Republican Party wants to associate with him after his attempt to help the special Senate election in Alabama for Roy Moore resulted in a loss, and he stepped down from the Executive Chairman position of right-wing Breitbart News. How many state secrets was he privy to while still in the White House? We’re sure to find out.
