Sarah Huckabee Sanders Promises Not To Lie, Lies Immediately

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who officially Sean Spicer as White House Press Secretary, appeared on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos to discuss her new role in the Trump administration. Stephanopoulos asked Sanders if she would vow to tell the truth, to which Sanders acquiesced, mere moments before delivering yet another bold-faced lie.

“Do you promise to try the always tell the truth from that podium?” the ABC host asked the new Press Secretary.

“Absolutely. Not just to you. I think that is our duty, certainly. I have three young kids. I want to go home and be able to look them in the eye every day. That’s far more important to me to be able to do that and have that highest level of honesty and integrity. I want to do that in every single thing I do. Not just my job. This is an extension of me being able to do that. I’m excited and honored to do it.”

George Stephanopoulos then asked Mrs. Sanders about some of the “big issues of the week,” including a bill with tough sanctions for Russia, which also limits President Trump’s ability to lift those sanctions. He asked whether the president would support that bill. Sanders said that Trump supports being “tough on Russia.”

Stephanopoulos went on to ask Sanders about Trump’s seemingly harsh comments to on Jeff Sessions to the The New York Times in an interview, [Sessions] “should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.” Trump classified the information regarding Sessions as a “leak.”

Sanders said, “There’s a ton of focus on what I like to call ‘Russia fever,’ which is a total made up story about the President trying to take away the legitimacy of his victory in November. And we need to focus on these leaks. This is the only illegal thing that has taken place and it’s a real problem.”

Stephanopoulous was quick to chide her, “Well, Sarah, as you know, part of what feeds the fever is that the President and his associates have not been straight about what has happened. In fact, the attorney general first said he never had a meeting with Russians… Now you have a new intercept that says he did talk about the campaign.”

Sanders then attempted to redirect blame inexplicably to Hillary Clinton, saying Clinton’s relationship with Russia while Secretary of State is one of the “first places we should look.” She continued, “The media loves to talk about it only when it comes to President Trump. They’ve been doing it for almost a year. They’ve come up with nothing when there’s real issues with some of the activities that the Democrats took place in.”

“You know that’s not true,” Stephanopoulos retorted. “You know for many months that you and the president and his teams denied any contact with the Russians. Just in the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen those contacts revealed. That’s why Don Jr. is going to have to appear before the Senate. That’s why Jared Kushner is appearing before the Senate this week as well. This is not a made-up story from the press.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders continued to prattle on about “Russia fever” before moving onto the current iteration of repeal and replace.
