Sarah Huckabee Sanders Tries To Gaslight Reporters, Anderson Cooper Lets Her Have It On CNN

It now seems that there is absolutely nothing that the administration under President Donald Trump will not do. This has been clear for some time, ever since they separated children from their parents and the border just to fit their nonsensical racially fuelled policies about illegal immigration. These are people who will do whatever is necessary to get what they want, and that apparently now includes gaslighting.

Gaslighting is something used by serial abusers to psychologically torture their partners. This is serious stuff. It essentially involves trying to brainwash people in such an agressive way that they start to question anything. Unbelievably, the White House is now using this tactic in press briefings. Although perhaps this should not be an enormous surpise by now either, given the character of the person who is currently somehow still President of the United States and leader of the free world.

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who remains staunchly loyal to her boss and totally willing to employ even the most mind bending methods to defend him at all costs, had to make a statement about Rob Porter recently. Porter resigned from the White House a little while ago after both of his ex-wives came out publicly to accuse him of all kinds of horrid domestic abuse, and, naturally, the White House has been in a complete fluster over how to deal with this.

Continuing on with the theme of “alternative facts” and “fake news” that has so far plagued the two years that the current administration has been in power in the American government, the explanations provided by the White House have shifted repeatedly, to the point that it is unclear where the official line actually lies on this issue. And Huckabee Sanders has, of course, weaponized this lack of clarity in what some might call gaslighting tactics.

Well, finally, Anderson Cooper of CNN had had enough:

“We begin tonight keeping them honest, with the White House continuing their effort to gaslight the American people,” Cooper opened, before giving a definition of the term. “Gaslighting is when someone tries to make you question your own reality and sanity,” he explained. “And they do this by lying, they do it by speaking in contradictions, and by denying the reality that you know to be true. So that is how the White House is gaslighting the American people daily in an effort to cover up how it handled the case of Rob Porter.”

Wow. Go Anderson!
