Let’s Remember The Time When A Texas Senator Called Trump A Loofa-Faced S***-Gibbon

The current state of American politics evokes the worst in all of us. We have a President of the United States and leader of the free world who has boasted about sexually assaulting women and physically assaulting journalists, who seems to have got elected by colluding with Russia and was forced to deny working as a Russian agent, and who is slowly but surely running our great country into the ground through a combination of total incompetence and incredible bigotry.

Sometimes, when you see President Donald Trump on the TV unleashing his latest tirade against the “Fake News Media and the True Enemy of the People,” or perhaps against Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s “Witch Hunt which is Full of Dems,” you get the urge to shout some very unkind things at him. Well, as it turns out, even senior politicians get those exact same urges, and sometimes, they slip through the net and come out in public. And those shouldn’t be forgotten because they still ring true today.

That is exactly what happened to Democratic Texas state senator Daylin Leach in 2017 when he saw a news report about something the President had said about him. He apparently came across a report which showed Trump joking to a breakfast group that he would “destroy” this guy’s career, Leach reacted usuriously, and we here at Blue Side Nation completely understand why. On his social media profiles, he shared the link along with the following brutal comment:

“Hey! I oppose civil asset forfeiture too. Why don’t you come after me you fascist, loofa-faced shit-gibbon!”

Top marks to Leach for not holding back there. This is the kind of open frankness we need in today’s political landscape.

Later on that same day, Steve Hoenstine, who is a spokesman for Sen. Leach, spoke to the press about those comments and came out in defense of the Senator:

President Trump blithely talked about destroying the career of a man who disagreed with Trump on a policy issue. Then Trump laughed about it, which is just what you’d expect from someone who gets his kicks firing people on national television. Trump just continues to undermine democratic norms, America’s system of checks and balances, and the general principle of human decency. Senator Leach is mad as hell about it, as you can see from his tweet.”

Of course, this guy is completely right. Trump consistently acts in a manner that is totally unfit for the office he holds, and he should be held accountable for that. Even when that means some quite foul mouthed Facebook posts.
