The Pentagon Has Been Officially Asked For Military Plans To Attack Iran By The White House

President Donald Trump being in the White House is clearly an enormous problem for anyone who is not a far right Republican with distinctly xenophobic leanings. However, a horrifically harrowing and explosive new story that recently emerged suggests that he and his administration might soon pose an existential threat to literally everyone in the world by starting a world war of some kind through spectacularly inept foreign policy.

It has been reported that the White House was recently putting together plans to invade Iran. Yes, you read that right. According to the reports, the White House contacted the Pentagon to formally request plans be drawn up for potential military strikes against Iran. It has also been reported that officials at the Pentagon and the National Security Council were incredibly taken aback by the astonishing request, which came primarily from Donald Trump and hawkish National Security Adviser John Bolton. “It definitely rattled people,” a former senior US administration official was quoted as saying. “People were shocked. It was mind-boggling how cavalier they were about hitting Iran.”

It is hard to convey just how mind boggling this is. A direct attack of this kind on Iran (which, by the way, is a very close ally of Russia) would be monumentally irresponsible, much more so than anything else Trump has done during his two years or so in the White House so far. A conflict of this kind, if started in this way, would almost certainly be impossible to bring to a halt: we are talking all out war here, and Trump and Bolton are formally requesting the detailed plans be drawn up for how to get it going. This is terrifying.

Mike Pompeo, former CIA Director and current Secretary of State, refused to comment on the matter when questioned by reporters. However, he has been a frequent and staunch defender of anti-Iran coalition states, such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia. His anti-Iran rhetoric has often been quite strong, which is extremely concerning. He said recently: “There’ll be a broad coalition of countries present,” he said, “and we’ll work on many issues, including how it is we can get the Islamic Republic of Iran to behave more like a normal nation.”

It is not just Pompeo, of course. Many of the people Trump surrounds himself with, in senior adviser and aide positions in the White House or influential and powerful posts throughout the administration, espouse these kinds of radical and dangerous views. Bolton, for example, has previously called for Iran to be bombed publicly. This petrifying truth might soon become an actual reality.
