There Is A Chance Trump Could Be Blocked From Re-Running In 2020

President Donald Trump has had everything handed to him on a plate since the day he was born. He inherited a multi billion dollar empire from his father and he has been at the very top of the Washington right wing establishment for his entire life. One day, he decided he wanted to enter politics and despite having no experience or qualifications whatsoever, he was soon President of the United States and leader of the free world thanks to the populist insurgency raging through the Western world which happened to chime perfectly with his inflammetory and xenophobic rhetoric. So, it is no surprise that he is already being extremely brash and confident about his chances of re-election in 2020. He thinks he has it in the bag because he does not know what it feels like to lose out. Except that it might actually be much harder to get another four years in office than he thinks at the moment.

Up and down the country, Democratic and left leaning lawmakers are desperate for the Trump presidency to end, and a group in Illinois have taken it upon themselves to finally do something about it. In an incredible move, the Democratic led Senate in Illinois has voted to force the President to release five years’ wirth of his personal income tax returns. Trump has repeatedly said that he will never release his tax returns, and it is perfectly obvious that the reason for that is that he has engaged in a huge amount of dodgy finance and he doesn’t want anyone to find out about that. However, the Illinois Democrats have said that if he refuses to comply with their request, they will ban him from the state’s presidential ballot next uear. State Sen. Tony Munoz, who is sponsoring the extraordinary legislation, said the following about it:

“If you want to run for vice president or president of the United States, hey, what’s wrong with providing your tax returns for the past five years? If you’ve got nothing to hide, you shouldn’t worry about anything. That’s how I see it.”

He is, of course, absolutely right. As it turns out, his colleagues agreed, and the motion passed the Senate with a margin of 36 votes to 19. As a result, if Trump refuses to back down on his taxes, he will be barred from the ballot paper. But if he does publish his tax returns, his financial crimes will be on display for all to see. Either way, his chances of re-election just got a whole lot smaller.
