Trump Biographer Went On CNN And Revealed Ties To Russian Mobsters, Convicted Felons, And Drug Kingpins

You would be forgiven for thinking at this point that there is nothing President Donald Trump could do now that would surprise us. From the blatant xenophobia to the shocking misogyny, it does appear as though he has already sunk to the lowest levels possible, so there is no news story that could possibly be even worse than all the ones that have gone before. Well, think again, friends!

Here at Blue Side Nation, even given all the abysmal stuff we know about the current President of the United States and leader of the free world, we were truly and genuinely gobsmacked when we saw this story for the first time. Believe it or not, it seems that Trump – in addition to everything else – has been running a secret cocaine empire and was very closely involved in drug trafficking. And it just got exposed in the most brutal way imaginable.

The big reveal came from a man named David Cay Johnston, who wrote the famous biography of the President entitled The Making of Donald Trump and has been closely following his every move for nearly three decades. In other words, this guy knows and understands everything there is to know about Donald Trump. And, quite simply, he went on CNN for a live TV interview, and spilled all the beans, to the bafflement of host John Smerconish:

SMERCONISH: Joining me now, David Cay Johnston. He’s a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. He’s covered Donald Trump for 28 years. He’s the author of a brand new book called, “The Making of Donald Trump”. He also teaches at Syracuse University’s College of Law. I’ve read your book, David. In the book, you say if I landed in Arkansas, I would have written about Hillary, but I landed in Atlantic City, so I wrote about Donald.

JOHNSTON: Right.

SMERCONISH: And you say, “I wrote this book to tell people things about his background that he won’t tell them himself.” Take your best shot.

JOHNSTON: Well, Donald got his helicopter, his personal helicopters and the ones for his casinos from a convicted felon who turned out to be a major drug trafficker. And instead of cutting ties with this guy, he kept him on, he rented him an apartment under very unusual circumstances, I’ve described in the book. He wrote a letter pleading for mercy for him, saying he was a stand-up guy. The guy got 18 months while the people who delivered the drugs for him got 20 years. And, by the way, the case came before, one point, Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, Donald’s older sister. So, here we are worried about the e-mails and connections and we should investigate that and write about it, but there’s been virtually nothing outside of my book about Donald’s life-long business dealings with Russian mobsters, con artists, violent felons, and swindlers, and this big-time cocaine trafficker.

That’s right. Our President just got described by his own biographer as an advocate for a “big-time cocaine trafficker”. The world we live in is now not only new and strange, but profoundly terrifying.
