Trump Goes On The Offensive, Blasts Democrats And Doubts Ford’s Allegations On Kavanaugh

After a week of unusual restraint, President Donald Trump finally went on the offensive on the issue of his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the allegations of sexual assault made against him.

Trump made several tweets on his Twitter account earlier on Friday, having held back for the past week since they were initially made. In his commentary, Trump suggested he doubted allegations made by Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who said Kavanaugh groped and assaulted her in the early 1980s.

“I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents,” Trump wrote. “I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn  date, time, and place!”

Trump made clear that he felt the allegations were partisan in nature. In an earlier tweet, Trump alleged Kavanaugh was “a fine man” who was “under assault by radical left wing politicians.”

Trump wasn’t done with those two tweets, however, even though he commented and shared other tweets on other subjects immediately after. Hours later in the day, Trump again returned to the topic of Kavanaugh and Ford, lashing out at Democrats, specifically Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, whom he alleged held onto a letter from Ford for the purposes of obstructing and delaying the nomination process.

Trump also demanded that Ford testify on Monday. Ford has said she doesn’t want to until the FBI does a thorough investigation on the matter. Such a move has precedence, as that’s precisely what happened with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas when similar allegations of sexual harassment came up against him during his nomination hearings in 1991.

Trump suggested he wanted to buck that precedent. “Let her testify, or not, and TAKE THE VOTE!” he wrote.
