Trump Had No Idea That Yet Another High Level White House Staffer Would Resign, But It Happened Again

The Trump administration lost another member, as White House staff secretary Rob Porter resigned amid abuse allegations from two of his ex-wives. The White House confirmed Porter’s resignation on Wednesday, although he didn’t specify when his last day is.

The Daily Mail reports that Porter’s ex-wife, Jennifer Willoughby, told the publication that the two had an argument in 2010 when Rob pulled her from the shower by the shoulders and proceeded to yell at her.

This isn’t the first time allegations of abuse by Rob surfaced. His first ex-wife, Colbie Holderness, told The Intercept of an alleged incident that happened in 2005. “He threw me down on the bed and punched me in the face. I think he was shocked that he had lost control to that extent.” To lend credence to her argument, she sent these pictures to The Intercept.

Since both allegations surfaced, Porter told anyone who would listen that both allegations are untrue. “These outrageous allegations are simply false. I took the photos to the media nearly 15 years ago and the reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described. I have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims, but I will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign.”

Some people have come to Rob’s aide. Most notable has been White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who asked Rob to refrain from resigning, according to CNN.

“Rob Portman is a man of true integrity and honor and I can’t say enough good things about him. He is a friend, a confidante, and a trusted professional. I am proud to serve alongside him.”

While Rob deserves due process, this isn’t the first member of Trump’s team to have allegations against him. Steve Wynn resigned as the finance chair of the Republican National Committee on January 27 after a bombshell report alleged sexual misconduct by Wynn in the workplace.

Of course, the Republicans have decided to keep all Wynn’s donations even after calling out the Democrats last year to return donations made by pariah Harvey Weinstein.

All this signifies the Republicans have no problem writing their own rules even after calling out the Democrats for doing the same thing. After all, when your leader brags about grabbing women’s crotches whenever he wants, it does set a dangerous precedent.
