Trump Is Laying The Groundwork For His Resignation: Going To Resign And Declare Victory Before Mueller Leaves Him No Choice

It is fair to say that President Donald Trump is in a right pickle. The scandal that he finds himself caught up in, which still threatens him with the exact same vigor it did back in 2016 even now more than halfway through his term in the White House, is showing no signs of going away. Special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed by the Justice Department to investigate allegations that the campaign to elect Trump as president back in 2016 colluded with Russian state actors and then committed obstruction of justice in an attempt to cover it up. This is not the kind of thing you can just move on from.

Rumors have been swirling around for some time that the President might or might not be weighing up the possibility of resigning from his post as President of the United States and leader of the free world, but up until now nothing concrete has been reported. However, lately, some of the directions and actions coming out of the White House seem just plain bizarre, which has led many experts to conclude that something is up, and it could be that Trump is laying the path to make his exit as soon as possible.

Just recently, one of the people who knows Trump better than anyone else in the world – Tony Schwartz, the guy who co-wrote The Art of the Deal with him – announced on Twitter his belief that Trump recognized he was never going to survive the revelations from the Mueller probe so he was on his way out. Schwartz tweeted:

“The circle is closing at blinding speed. Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and congress leave him no choice.”

Recent events make that prediction ring very true indeed. Out of the blue, Trump has cut down the frequency of his bold public statements about how great he is (though they are still way more often than they should be, of course). Even more alarmingly, he has reportedly sent Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner out of Washington. And there have been rumors in the press that he has told some of his most trusted confidants that he is fed up of his responsibilities. Political analyst Bill Palmer reckons this all adds up to one very big conclusion:

“On their own, each of these pieces would only elicit a moment of head scratching. But when placed in context of each other, they appear to tell a much more convincing story. First we got word this week that Donald Trump is actively trying to convince Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner to resign from the White House and move back to New York City. Why would he do this? Even though he never takes her advice, he can’t function without Ivanka at his side.”

We can only hope.
