Trump Just Asked One Question That Embarrassed Himself And The Whole Country

A lot of Americans were hoping that President Donald Trump wouldn’t embarrass himself on his 12-day trip to Asia, but disappointment has already arrived for many in just the first couple days of his trek.

Trump caused many “facepalm” reactions when the Japan Times reported that the president didn’t understand how a nation full of samarai couldn’t shoot down a missile launched over their country from North Korea. Besides violating myriad treaties and possibly setting off a world war, the comment was an example of how prejudiced Trump really is, apparently basing his knowledge of Japanese culture from kung-fu action films.

But Trump’s ignorance didn’t stop there. While discussing the issue of trade, Trump asked another question that proved he doesn’t think before he speaks.

“Try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over,” Trump told automakers in Japan. “Is that possible to ask? That’s not rude. Is that rude? I don’t think so.”

Here are his full remarks, but we’ve pinpointed the place in the video for you. The fun starts at the 10:00 minute mark.

Unbeknownst to Trump, apparently, is that major automakers in Japan already do build cars here. More than 4 million cars from Japanese automakers were built in the U.S. last year alone, according to CNN. In fact, those companies build more cars in the U.S. now than they export to us.

These companies also hire American workers. Toyota and Mazda are building a plant in 2021 that could create nearly 4,000 jobs.

It’s important for Trump to focus on what’s made in the U.S. and what creates American jobs. He should question industrial leaders overseas about investing in our country. But his ignorance is on full display when he makes a statement like he did to Japanese automakers. He’s clearly not done his homework before this trip, and is content with embarrassing America while he goes on his sight-seeing tour.

Let’s hope this is the last embarrassment during this tour across Asia.
