What White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Just Said Is Beyond Stupid

Last week, Press Secretary Sarah H. Sanders was asked whether President Trump was keeping the United States from chaos, or if reports saying that Secretary Rex Tillerson, Secretary James Mattis, and General John F. Kelly are the ones keeping the United States from chaos were true. “Look, I think that the president is the one that’s keeping the world from chaos,” Sanders responded.

This week, Trump created chaos. He officially pulled the United States from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). He managed to raise tension with Mexico and Canada regarding a new proposed clause in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) which would create a lifespan of only five years on any new trade agreements. He signed executive orders that will wreak havoc on health care. He allowed the deadline to expire on enforcing sanctions to Russia’s defense and intelligence sectors. He is undermining his administration’s attempts to set up negotiations with North Korea.

Thankfully, we have Senate leaders and journalists to call attention to the chaos. On The Rachel Maddow Show, Maddow breaks down Trump’s opposition to the Russian sanctions, even though a total of only five individuals in all of Congress, both the House and the Senate, voted “no.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called out Trump’s response to NAFTA and what they should be doing instead.

Senator Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY) called out the new healthcare order as catastrophic.

So when Sanders says Trump is keeping the world from chaos, or about Trump being great and strong and firm and intelligent and, well, just about any other absurd platitude – remember, it’s like someone saying Taco Bell is “real” Mexican food. It’s hard to pretend that it’s real.
