ESPN Anchor Spoke The Truth About Trump, Then The White House Sends A Sick Response

Here we are in 2017 and we have a president and administration looking to take away free speech in this country. Or at least that’s what it seems.

After the election and subsequent inauguration, mass and widespread protests swept across the country. And for good reason. The backwards right just elected a bigot President of the United States. It still sickens most to wake up in the morning to a Trump led US. Given this fact, we must keep speaking out against him in any way possible. That’s exactly what Jemele Hill did.

For those of you who do not know who Jemele Hill is, she is the outspoken and voracious anchor of ESPN’s SC6 program. Jemele and co-hose Michael Smith are very outspoken about race and race relations, even on ESPN. There has been a big viewership decrease from the right-wing watchers of ESPN due to these racial overtones, even though all of what they’re saying is true.

Hill got in to trouble with the right, and with ESPN, over these comments made on Twitter.

This then was followed up by ESPN with the following statement about the tweets: “The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the President do not represent the position of ESPN. We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.” This is fine because ESPN is a massive organization and that’s what companies do when their employees sort of, you know, go off on Twitter. But the best part about this is that it really equated as a slap on the wrist at worst. Maybe because ESPN agrees with her? I don’t know, but the punishment could have been much worse.

Enter professional liar, White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders. When probed about the Hill comments, Sanders responded the only way a Trump administration stooge knows how. By trying to squelch free speech.

“I’m not sure he’s aware,” Sanders said when asked whether Trump had known about the tweets. “But I think that’s one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something that I think is a fireable offense by ESPN.” Let’s break this apart a bit. One of the more outrageous tweets? I think Sanders is missing the entire time that Donald Trump said, and I quote, there were “fine people on both sides” when talking about a white supremacist, neo-Nazi plowing his car into a crowd of protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia. You see where Hill could have made a connection, eh Sarah?

Sanders continued to defend Trump by saying, “He has been meeting with highly respected leaders in the African-American community in an effort to bridge the racial divide. I think that’s where we want to be focused and not on outrageous statements like that one.” Right so we should just gloss over the fact that he hasn’t denounced white supremacy as a whole yet and just focus on him meeting with members of the black community like some token offering. That’s nearly just as bad, if not worse because he’s just trying to use others as a play for more positive press when none of it is genuine.

Also, a fireable offense? Do you not know who you’re working for? I’m near certain Trump has fired people from his own administration for sneezing the wrong way. A fireable offense would be to run coverage for an out of control man-baby in charge of something that he shouldn’t be. Sound familiar?

This response is absurd and sickening by the White House. They are attempting to stop free speech, especially if it’s anything negative in regards to Trump or his administration. End the BS, get Trump and these lunatics out of office. 2020 can’t come soon enough!
